Andrew Burpee Jones

1950-2020

Andrew Burpee Jones
With broken hearts the family of Andrew (Andy) Burpee Jones announces his passing on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital surrounded by his immediate family. Andy was born in Burtts Corner, NB on October 19, 1950 to Freda (Gallagher) Jones and the late Burpee Jones.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Joyce (Ingraham) Jones; his loving children, Alex and Andrea Jones; his cherished granddaughters, Jordan and Caitlin Jones; his dear mother Freda; three caring sisters, Wanda Jones (Richard Pederson), Susan Pugh and Sherry Jones (Tony Dunphy) and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his father, Andy was predeceased by two bothers, Dwayne and Dwight and a sister Lorraine.

Andy retired from the Facilities Management at the University of New Brunswick where he was a plumber/pipefitter by trade. Andy enjoyed his Sunday road trips, the great outdoors, spending time with family, was an avid sports fan and found great comfort in his music. Despite his challenges he always displayed a positive and light hearted attitude. Like his father, after each visit his parting mantra was “keep your stick on the ice, and a puck in the truck.”

The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the staff of the DECH 4SE and the palliative care unit for the exceptional and compassionate care he received. Special thanks to Dr. Kolyvas, Dr. Reiman, Dr. Peter Dickinson and group and Dr. Jones.

A graveside service was held at the Bear Island Cemetery, Bear Island on Tuesday, August 11 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Canon Jon Lownds officiating. A poem was read by Andy's son Alex.

For those who wish to make a donation in Andy’s memory, the family suggests the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada or the DECH palliative care unit (Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Foundation)
